Employment Opportunity: Recreation Coordinator

Reports to: Camp Director
Supervises: Non – Assist the Program Manager
Term Start: No later than the fourth week of June
Term End: No earlier than last week of August
Wages: $18-$20 per hour dependent on experience. Plus accommodations all summer and meals 5 days
per week

Overview:
The Recreation Coordinator at Camp McDougall is a dynamic role focused on creating engaging, inclusive, and educational recreational activities for campers. This position involves planning and supervising daily recreation sessions and camp-wide games, as well as maintaining recreation equipment and spaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in outdoor living, environmental education, and group games, paired with leadership and organizational skills.

Duties:

• Follows all rules and regulations as outlined in the Staff Manual
• Assists in the implementation of Counsellor Training
• Participates fully in all camp programs when not conducting assigned sessions
• Provides the Program Committee with a written outline of weekly activities, including supply and equipment lists, prior to the start of camp

Program Responsibilities:

• Plans, implements, and supervises daily recreation sessions
• Plans, implements, and supervises daily camp-wide games
• Maintains the Rec Hut, field, and recreation equipment, keeping a current inventory and ensuring program areas are clean and organized
• Supervises all recreation activities
• Keeps a daily log of activities and outcomes

Qualifications:

• Prior camp experience
• Strong background in outdoor living, game play, and environmental education
• Leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work with people of all ages
• Programming and organizational skills
• Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR certification
• Current Vulnerable Persons Record Check – to be submitted one (1) week prior to commencement of employment
• Bronze Cross or NLS certification (an asset)
