Employment Opportunity: Junior Waterfront Coordinator

Reports to: Camp Director
Supervises: Assists the Program Manager
Term Start: No later than the fourth week of June
Term End: No earlier than last week of August
Wages: $19.25 – $21.25 per hour dependent on experience.   Plus accommodations all summer and meals
5 days per week

Overview:
The Junior Waterfront Coordinator at Camp McDougall plays a supportive yet essential role in creating a safe, engaging, and well-supervised waterfront environment for campers and staff. This role works closely with the Senior Waterfront Coordinator to assist with supervising waterfront activities, ensuring adherence to Ontario Camps Association (OCA) standards, and promoting a fun and positive experience for campers at the lake. The Junior Waterfront Coordinator participates in staff training, maintains safety and cleanliness standards, and is a resourceful team member with strong communication skills and a dedication to the camp community.

Duties:

  • Assists the Senior Waterfront Coordinator in upholding OCA Standards related to waterfront safety, swimming, and boating
  • Assists in implementing Counsellor Training programs
  • Documents and administers first aid to staff and campers as required

Program Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Senior Waterfront Coordinator in supervising all swim times
  • Assists with planning, implementing, and supervising daily waterfront sessions
  • Helps maintain a current inventory of all waterfront equipment
  • Conducts daily inspections to ensure the waterfront remains in a safe and clean condition
  • Supervises waterfront activities alongside the Senior Waterfront Coordinator
  • Ensures all waterfront rules and safety procedures are kept up to date and prominently posted

Qualifications:

  • Prior camp experience
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work with people of all ages
  • Programming and organizational skills
  • Canoeing experience, with Basic Canoeing Level 1 or higher, is an asset
  • Current NLS, First Aid, and CPR certification with at least two years of lifeguarding experience, including direct waterfront experience
  • Pleasure Craft Operator’s License
  • Current Vulnerable Persons Record Check – to be submitted one (1) week prior to the commencement of employment
