Employment Opportunity: CARETAKER – PART TIME

Reports to: Head Cook
Supervises: None
Term Start: No later than the fourth week of June
Term End: No earlier than last week of August
Wages: $18-$20 per hour dependent on experience. Plus accommodations all summer and meals 5 days
per week

Overview:
The Caretaker plays a vital role in maintaining the camp’s facilities, grounds, and overall safety. This part-time position requires an individual who can perform routine maintenance, manage repairs, and ensure cleanliness across the camp. Reporting to the Head Cook, the Caretaker ensures a safe and welcoming environment for campers and staff alike by addressing maintenance issues promptly and keeping all areas hazard-free.

Duties:

• Follows all rules and regulations as outlined in the Staff Manual
• Ensures all garbage is disposed of in the proper area
• Cleans and restocks supplies in all showers and washrooms
• Monitors the water system and equipment; promptly notifies the Camp Director of any issues
• Inspects and reports on faulty electrical circuits, switches, or outlets to the Camp Director
• Replaces broken or burnt-out light bulbs and checks lights in the new building monthly
• Maintains and repairs steps, doors, windows, and screens as needed
• Keeps the camp grounds free of hazards and waste
• Maintains the fire pit area and beachfront to ensure safety and cleanliness
• Accompanies the provincial health inspector during inspections, if present
• Maintains care and control of the 4-wheel all-terrain vehicle
• Attends all camp training sessions as requested by the Camp Director

Qualifications:

• Experience in maintenance and repairs
• Ability to work independently and efficiently
• Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR certification
• Current Vulnerable Persons Record Check – to be submitted one (1) week prior to commencement of employment
