Reports to: Camp Director
Supervises: Junior Waterfront Coordinator Assists the Senior Waterfront  Coordinator
Term Start: No later than the fourth week of June
Term End: No earlier than last week of August
Wages: $20.50 – $22.50 per hour dependent on experience. Plus accommodations all summer and meals
5 days per week

Overview:
Camp McDougall is seeking a skilled and responsible Senior Waterfront Coordinator for the dual role of leading all waterfront activities and being the primary first aider on site. This key role involves overseeing swim times, canoeing sessions, and safety protocols, while maintaining equipment and upholding best practices in waterfront management. It also includes being aware of and training staff on any acute medical issues campers may have, how to recognize them, and how to respond. Reporting to the Camp Director, the Senior Waterfront Coordinator will supervise junior waterfront staff and assist in their training. Ideal candidates bring prior waterfront and first aid experience, strong leadership skills, and a dedication to creating a positive, safe environment by the water and throughout camp.

Duties:

  • Responsible for knowing and following all regulations designed for safety of the Waterfront as outlined in Ontario Regulations 242/84 – Sec. 34, and OCA Standards pertaining to swimming and boating.
  • Assists with the implementing of Counsellor Training
  • Responsible for documenting and administering first aid to staff and campers as required
  • Participate fully in all programs at camp when not conducting his/her own session
  • Responsible for providing the Program Committee with a written outline of weekly activities with supply and equipment lists, prior to the start of Camp
  • Program Responsibilities:
  • supervise all swim times
  • Plan, implement and supervise daily Waterfront sessions
  • Responsible for maintaining and keeping a current inventory of all Waterfront equipment
  • Inspect the Waterfront daily and keeps Waterfront in a clean and safe operational condition
  • Responsible for supervising all Waterfront activities 
  • Ensure that all Waterfront Rules and Safety Procedures are kept up to date and prominently posted
  • Keep a daily log

Qualifications:

  • Prior camp experience
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work with people of all ages
  • Programming and organizational skills
  • Canoeing experience and Basic Canoeing Level 1 or higher an asset
  • Current NLS, First Aid, and CPR certification with at least two years lifeguarding experience including direct waterfront experience, and Pleasure Craft Operators License  
  • Current Vulnerable Persons Record Check – to be submitted one (1) week prior to commencement of employment
